Tanjungpandan, YTKNews.id—Sang Guru, Miss Dewi Laseri Sihotang, S.Pd, mengakui, awal mula ia mengenal sosok Kerrin itu sejak gadis cilik bertalenta itu, masih jadi anak dirik di TK Regina Pacis. “Artinya, sekitar 4 tahun yang lalu, saya mengenalnya,” ujar Miss Dewi.
“Kerrin adalah sosok anak yang ceria, smart dan memiliki basic kemampuan bahasa inggris seperti percakapan sehari-hari,” ujar Miss Dewi lagi.
Ternyata dari uraian sang gurunya, Kerrin pernah menyabet Juara 1 Lomba spelling Bee tingkat TK se- Yayasan Tunas Karya lewat zoom Daily English. Program ini terintegrasi dalam Virtual English Class (VEC), sebuah program yang dikelola Bidang Kurikulum Yayasan Tunas Karya (YTK).
“Bahkan Kerrin juga pernah menjuarai Lomba Spelling Bee tingkat SD tahun 2024 silam,” imbuh Guru Bahasa Inggris TK dan SD Regina Pacis Belitung ini.
Waktu Kerrin ikut lomba Spelling Bee, kata Miss Dewi, awalnya ia ragu karna takut gagal. “Tapi saya selalu memotivasi Kerrin,” tuturnya . Saya bilang, Kerrin, believe in yourself! Win or lose is second number. Kerrin, you can do it my dear!” (Artinya : “Kerrin, yakin sama dirimu sendiri. Soal menang atau kalah itu nomor dua. Kamu pasti Bisa”)
The teacher, Ms.Dewi Laseri Sihotang, S.Pd, admitted that she met Kerrin for the first time when she was a young student in Regina Pacis preschool. She has already known her as a talented child at that school.“That means, it was about 4 years ago, that I knew her,” said Ms.Dewi. “Kerrin is a cheerful and smart girl. She has good English communication such as a daily conversation,”as stated by Ms.Dewi.
According to her teacher’s description, Kerrin once won the kindergarten-level spelling Bee which is supported by the Zoom daily English program. This is integrated into the Virtual English Class (VEC), a program run within the curriculum of the Yayasan Tunas Karya Foundation.
“Even Kerrin won the elementary school Spelling Bee last year in 2024,” adds Regina Pacis Belitung’s kindergarten and primary school teacher.
When Kerrin ran the spelling bee competition, Ms. Dewi said, at first, she was afraid to fail. “But I always motivate Kerrin,” she said. I told you, Kerrin, believe in yourself! Winning or losing is second number. Kerrin, you can do it my dear!

MD : May I ask you something about our school?
K : of course.
MD : So, What is your impression about Regina Pacis?
K : Alright. I think Regina Pacis is one of my favorite school that really teaches us important thing such as education, moral value, good character and much more. Beside that, Regina Pacis school always has different kinds of agenda to celebrate important events like Christmas, Chinese New Year and Easter Day.
MD : Wow. It’s nice I think. Is there any else that make you wonderful to study in Regina Pacis school?
K : Well. As long as I have been here since I was 4 years at Regina Pacis preschool, I like the ways of teachers in teaching us. It won’t make the student feel bored. Yeah. I do enjoy everything here.
MD : What do you think about the teachers?
K : Of course. The teachers are so friendly.
Every morning, they always greet us in before started the lesson.
MD : That’s great. I’d love to hear that. So, what’s your hope for Regina Pacis?
K : I hope Regina Pacis always be exist, success and be always in our heart.
